Writing An Argumentative Essay
Writing An Argumentative EssayWriting an argumentative essay, also known as argumentative writing, can be a difficult task. Your objective in this essay should be to state the facts as clearly and concisely as possible. Also, you must avoid creating a rant on what to do, but rather the situation. You must create a logical argument that clearly states the facts in this situation.A good essay will be able to lead your reader to the conclusion you are trying to make. There are many methods of writing an argumentative essay. Here are some of them. They are given in no particular order.Use a Passive Voice-This form of writing requires your reader to take action. It makes them 'feel' something by reading it. For example, if I write: 'A professor was fired when she tried to recruit students. The faculty member had served her board for three years and was on the verge of retirement.' The next paragraph could say, 'The board for three years was up for consideration.' Which is the correct sent ence?Provide Evidence-One of the best ways to persuade others is to state what they are doing wrong and how you know this. This shows how you will take action to resolve the problems you perceive. For example, a teacher who does not keep up with his or her class notes. If I wrote: 'One of the other teachers often assigns chapters on this topic because they keep coming up as topics. One of the examples given is: Chapter 3, dealing with the origins of currency and is discussed in a chapter on gold and slavery.'Offer a Solution-This method requires you to offer solutions. You will also use your facts and statistics to give your reader solutions. For example, if I write: 'The school district received a great deal of criticism when it announced that math tests would no longer be held in English classes. It was decided that the timing was right for the change.' Then the following paragraph could say: 'It was decided to start the process of giving test results.'Essays are so short that you can often cut out sentences that you don't think are relevant to the topic. Using these techniques will help you become more persuasive. They will help you land higher marks.Writing an argumentative essay is a difficult task. However, when you learn to utilize these tactics, you will become more convincing. You will find it much easier to convince others to your way of thinking. It will be much easier to achieve your goals and the result will be the success you desire.
